The Tide vol. 1

OUT NOW

I have been singing and writing, making and performing music for the larger part of my life. This latest project spans the gamut of my life experience and inspiration thus far.

This new album is an acoustic alchemy: one of partnering with lifelong inspirations and collaborating with musical heroes. This includes getting to sing with Tanya Tucker (who was one of my earliest inspirations) on “Never Again, Every Time;” writing “God Gave Me Horses” with one of my favorite songwriters, Connie Harrington, and having the legendary Vince Gill add his voice and brilliant guitar to the track; transforming the all-time favorite, Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Your Song” into a Latin serenade with the globally-renowned Raul Malo and Eddie Perez of The Mavericks; addressing current events with the incredibly talented Ruby Amanfu and Matt Maher on “Good Trouble;” and navigating hard times on “Made for This,” a song that I wrote and sang with my husband, Stephen Wilson, Jr. about our struggles during the season of COVID-19. And finally, recording “I Need Thee Every Hour” with yet another living legend, CeCe Winans, reminding us that these struggles are real and that we need help navigating them.

The adage “a rising tide lifts all boats” rings true with this album. Much like its reference to the idea that when something is performing well, all people will benefit from it, so is the landscape of my musical career. The Tide Vol. 1 showcases what true collaboration can inspire, much like rising waters can lift all who travel across them, and provide a calmness and serenity along the way. My hope is that it also acknowledges the struggles that each of us face as we live out our God-breathed dreams and callings in life.

There are more stories in my journey to be told….

With love, Leigh

 meet Leigh

The world knows Leigh Nash best as the delightful pixie-esque voice atop massive global hits such as “Kiss Me” and “There She Goes” with Sixpence None The Richer, but she’s worked tirelessly to define her perspective though her songwriting output, showcased on her newest project, “The Tide, Vol. 1,” a six-song collection of duets recorded with people Leigh considers personal superheroes.

“What I’ve found to be true with my songwriting is that I seem to serve a story or song better when it’s something that just happened naturally with me, like an encounter or conversation,” she says. “I tried it back with Sixpence, but I’m just now starting to feel a little bit more at home in those songwriter shoes.”

Combine those choices of subject matter — honesty with partners in times of strife, recognizing others’ perspectives in periods of trouble, identifying blessings in the everyday — with duet partners featuring voices both iconic and close to home, and “The Tide, Vol. 1”  reveals an artist at the peak of her powers.
